Obituary: Mcdowell, Susan Kay

Age 58

McDOWELL, Susan Kay On the sixth of November, 2012, a soul of unimaginable worth slipped away peacefully in the loving arms of her husband Timothy, all too sudden, leaving this world a little less bright.

The memories of Susan Kay McDowell, though, will live on forever in our hearts.

Susan was born to Richard and June Rychalski, on January 30th, 1954 in Topeka, Kansas before moving to Helena, Montana where she grew up “being cradled” by the distant mountains and rolling plains.

She graduated from Helena High School in 1972 and went forth into the world to earn her B.S.N.

from the University of Montana four years later.

With the end of one journey she began a new adventure that carried her to Washington State and to Eastern State Hospital where she met the love of her life, Timothy Shawn McDowell.

They were wed on June 18, 1983, and raised three wonderful children.

Susan was a dedicated school nurse and facilitated the development of the School Health Care System for the Cheney School District.

She was an awesome Nordstrom shopper, lifelong library connoisseur, a cooking enthusiast and experimenter, and a tireless garage sale hunter.

Her compassionate heart, quick wit, and gentle wisdom left a lasting imprint on all who met her.

She is survived by her Bear of 29 years, Timothy; their Divine Daughter Caitlin; and her two Honey Boys Shane and Murphy; her parents Richard and June; her “older” sister Amy; and her younger brothers Rex, Mark, and Jon.

Sue’s Shindig, a grand celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, December 1 at the Clear Lake Homeowners Resort from 11 am till ??
