Obituary: Rohrbach, Nancy Ann
Age 78
She was born to Stella I.
(Andrews) and Adams A. Turner of Tiffin, Ohio on February 28, 1934.
She graduated from Columbia High School in Tiffin in 1952 and married John E. Creeger in 1955.
After the end of that marriage, she moved to Emmett, Idaho, where she earned her teaching certificate from the College of Idaho-Caldwell in 1961.
In 1962, she married Richard C. Rohrbach, also of Tiffin.
She taught elementary school in Caldwell, Emmett, and Priest River, ID.
She particularly loved her special education students and advocated for the rights of migrant workers’ children to be integrated into mainstream classrooms.
In 1969, she moved to Sandpoint, Idaho where she lived until 2004.
She owned and operated a daycare in Sandpoint for many years.
Nancy adored children, and had the heart of a teacher until the very end of her life.
In 2004, Nancy moved to Minnesota and in 2009 returned to Spokane.
She was a resident of Maplewood Gardens in Spokane from 2009 until September of 2012, when she entered ManorCare.
An accomplished painter, Nancy was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary, the Order of the Eastern Star and the Sandpoint Senior Center.
She loved to dance and garden, and was an excellent baker and a voracious reader.
She had a beautiful voice, loved music of all kinds and had an extensive collection of angel figurines.
She also liked to discuss politics and current events, attend the Minnesota Opera and the ballet, go to museums, dine out, shop and play cards and computer games.
Nancy was a loyal friend and loved spending time with her many grandchildren and “great-grands.”
Nancy was a devout Christian, and was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church in Sandpoint.
In 2004, she was confirmed Lutheran.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Belview, MN.
She taught her children to follow Jesus Christ and place their trust in Him, which was the most important lesson she could impart.
She is now released as a lamb to her Shepherd, with sadness, but with the sure hope of the resurrection to eternal life.
She is survived by her daughters, Melody (Ronald) Hunt of Sandpoint, ID; Alissa (David) Eyre of Chattaroy, WA; Rev.
Pari (Rev.
Trevor) Bailey of Belview, MN; stepsons Steve (Cynthia) Rohrbach of The Farm, TN, John (Holly) Rohrbach of Yuba City, CA, Matthew Rohrbach of Willard, OH; her grandchildren, Brooks Hunt of Spokane, Heather (Brian) Potack of Ferndale, WA, Rebekah (Rev.
Forrest) Tucker of Nashotah, WI, Isaiah (fiancĂŠe Amy Arend) Eyre of Moscow, ID, Rachel (Dr. Riccardo) Capezza of Boise, ID, Matthew Eyre of Spokane, Andrew Eyre of Spokane, Nathan Eyre of Chattaroy, Esther Eyre of Chattaroy and Pari Elizabeth Bailey of Belview, MN.
She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren and eight step-grandchildren; two sisters, Rayella (Philip) Engle of Tiffin, OH and Pari Carter of Clyde, OH and numerous nieces and nephews.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, special friend Jerry Rouleau, stepsons David Rohrbach and Thomas Rohrbach, sister Carolyn McFerren, an infant brother, and her parents.
A Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 18 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home, 2203 N Division St., Spokane, WA.
A Service of Holy Eucharist and Christian Burial will be held at Christ the King Anglican Church in Spokane on Monday, November 19, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Interment at Pinecrest Cemetery in Sandpoint will be held that afternoon at 2:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery.
