Big day for two receivers

Associated Press

Houston’s Andre Johnson and Jacksonville’s Justin Blackmon both had more than 200 yards receiving Sunday, marking the first time two players reached that mark in a single game.

Johnson had 14 receptions for 273 yards, both career highs. Blackmon, a rookie, had seven receptions for 236 yards, also career highs.

Judge dismisses McClain case

A judge in Decatur, Ala., has dismissed charges of third-degree assault, menacing, reckless endangerment and discharging a firearm in the city limits against Oakland linebacker Rolando McClain.

Court documents show that Morgan County Circuit Judge Glenn Thompson dismissed the charges this month after McClain’s accuser told prosecutors he no longer wanted to pursue the case.

Injuries aplenty around league

Blaine Gabbert of the Jacksonville Jaguars is the latest quarterback sidelined by injury, leaving the game against the Houston Texans in the first quarter with a bruised right elbow.

Last week, three quarterbacks went out with concussions: Chicago’s Jay Cutler, Philadelphia’s Michael Vick and San Francisco’s Alex Smith. A fourth, Pittsburgh’s Ben Roethlisberger, was sidelined with shoulder and rib injuries. Vick and Roethlisberger did not play Sunday.

Cutler will sit out the Bears’ Monday night game against the 49ers, with Smith a game-time decision.
