Flood watch in effect in parts of Inland NW

A flood watch has been posted for North Idaho and parts of Northeast Washington as a Pacific storm continues to bring wet weather to the region today.
The National Weather Service said that rainfall will continue today, bringing as much as an additional inch and a half of precipitation. Snow is not expected in the mountains.
Included in the flood watch are all of North Idaho and counties in Washington along the Candian border.

A flood watch has been posted for North Idaho and parts of Northeast Washington as a Pacific storm continues to bring wet weather to the region today.

The National Weather Service said that rainfall will continue today, bringing as much as an additional inch and a half of precipitation. Snow is not expected in the mountains.

Included in the flood watch are all of North Idaho and counties in Washington along the Candian border.

Nearly an inch of rain has fallen in Spokane on Sunday and today with 0.87 inches measured at Spokane International Airport since midnight on Saturday.

Forecasters said the continuing rain today should raise the levels of small streams, but larger rivers are not going to flood. Ponding water could be a problem along low-lying areas in the region.

Additional rainfall of a quarter to a half inch is expected.

In Spokane, forecasters are calling for rain to continue today through the day on Wednesday with a tenth to a quarter inch possible every 12 hours during today, tonight and daytime hours on Wednesday.

Rain showers on Wednesday night could change to snow above 2,000 feet in elevation, but the forecast through the holiday shows temperatures above freezing and a chance of rain. That should allow for relatively easy travel on ice- and fog-free highways.
