Obituary: Dahl, James “Jim”

DAHL, James “Jim” (Age 83) Was born in Moscow, ID, to Oscar and Edith Dahl on March 24, 1929.

Jim went to be with the Lord on November 14, 2012.

He was a beloved husband, father, grandpa, uncle, and friend.

He is survived by Norma, his wife of 62 years; their three children, Kim (John) Sobczuk, Newman Lake, WA, Jody Holmes, Colbert, WA, and Chris Dahl, Vancouver, WA; seven grandchildren: Brandi (Bob) Buchanan, Coeur d’Alene, ID, Trisha (Mike) DeCamp, Post Falls, ID, Chad (Shayna) Dahl, The Dalles, OR, Kyle Holmes, WI, Sarah Dahl, Hannah Dahl, both of Vancouver, WA; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jim worked for 38 years at Kaiser Aluminum Mead before retiring.

He also proudly served in the U.S. military; he was a Korean War Vet.

He served in the Army, Air Force, Air National Guard, and retired from the Naval Reserves.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 21, from 10 AM to 1:30 PM at Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home, 1306 N. Monroe, Spokane.

Then at 3 PM, Jim will be laid to rest in the Washington State Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake, WA.

Jim was a member of the FOE Aerie #2, BOF, VFW, a Kaiser Retirement Party Coordinator, and an avid volunteer in the community.

Jim loved family BBQ’s, dancing and listening to country music, playing cribbage, gardening, working out, and watching the Gonzaga Bulldogs, his favorite team.

The family wishes to thank the employees at the NorthPointe Memory Care Center and Hospice of Spokane for their kindness and compassionate care in his last days.

They will always be grateful.

A memorial service for Jim will be held at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 9706 N. Division St., Spokane on Saturday, November 24, at 11 A.M. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society.
