Obituary: Thain, Patricia “Diane”

THAIN, Patricia “Diane” I, Patricia “Diane” Couture Thain, was born March 2, 1943 in Spokane, WA to Dorothy “Dot” Patricia (Murphy) and Edward Charles Couture.

I met the love of my life in the Mead High School Band.

My husband-to-be, Rick, played the trumpet and we became high school sweethearts in 1960.

In 1988, we celebrated our 25th anniversary with a cruise to Alaska.

I loved animals my whole life and always had a dog.

Some of my favorite pastimes included going for rides, camping, travelling, genealogy, and I especially loved doing plastic canvas.

My other interests included playing the piano, organ, keyboard, and clarinet.

I was a member of the Eagles Lodge Arie #2 and on the Kaiser Aluminum Bowling Team.

I also spent time doing market research and delivering telephone books.

I was involved with the Mead High School 1961 Reunion Committee for several years and worked on two books for the reunions.

When my grandson Bryan was born, he needed special attention and I was able to be a caregiver to him for several years.

Rick and I travelled to many places, including Canada and seven countries in Europe.

We enjoyed driving our motorhome throughout the United States and our favorite trip was the drive to Alaska.

I was preceded in death by my parents, Dorothy “Dot” Patricia (Murphy) and Edward Charles Couture who built and established Pine Acres Par 3 Golf along with two partners.

I was also preceded in death by my daughter Tami-Jo Patricia (Charles) Brown.

I am survived by my loving husband Rick, and two daughters; Jodi Rae (John) Spurgin; and Lisa Lynn (Dave) Stockton.

I also leave behind ten grandchildren; Patricia (Chuck) Bullock, Malina (Travis) Collins, Charlene Brown, Bryan Brown, Jeremy (Samantha) Johnson, Nate (Jasmine) Little, Joie (Jeremy) Olson, Richard (Deahna) Olson, Josie Bernhardt, and Jimmy Bernhardt; five great-grandchildren; Autumn Little, Evalease Deerheim, Travis Collins, Jr., Lailah Johnson, Aleigha Olson, and my beloved dog Shaggy.
