Obituary: Tostenrude, Norma Lucille

TOSTENRUDE, Norma Lucille Passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, November 15, 2012 after 91 years of life!

Norma was born September 26, 1921 in Clarkston WA to Dick and Cora Herndon.

She grew up in Silverdale WA and graduated from Silverdale High School which is where she met her future husband, Walter Tostenrude.

She was an accomplished pianist, taught piano for a time and accompanied other fine musicians.

She briefly attended business school in Seattle, WA and retired from Kershaw’s Office Supplies in Spokane, Other pursuits included her love of gardening and sewing and she was an absolute perfectionist in anything she did!

She and Walter (“Toss”) were married in the Silverdale Methodist Church on November 15th, 1941 and she chose to return to him on the very same date!

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Dick and Cora Herndon, her brother Jack Herndon and her husband Walter.

She is survived by her son Michael (Marlane) Tostenrude of Vancouver, WA, her daughter Vicki (Ken) West of Spokane, her sister Helen (Marvin) Wittman of Lewiston, ID and her sister in law Laura Lee Herndon of Lewiston, ID.

She was blessed with six grandchildren; Jeffrey (Misty) Tostenrude, Joseph (Janelle) Tostenrude, Nicholas (Livia Hernandez) Tostenrude, Amy (Tim) Higgins, Traver (Aimee) West and Jordan (Sarah) West.

Her great- grandchildren include Matthew, William and Elisabeth Tostenrude, Carter, Grant and Kellen Tostenrude, Stella and Olive Tostenrude, Thomas and Katy Higgins, Collin and Alexander West, Cora and Charis West.

She also leaves many adoring nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, 1926 W. Chelan on Saturday, November 24th at 11:00 a.m. where she was a longtime member.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Emmanuel as well.
