Suspect in custody in fatal stabbing in northeast Spokane

Spokane Police have a suspect in custody in connection with a fatal stabbing in northeast Spokane last night.

Police said they received a call just before midnight Saturday saying a man had been stabbed near the intersection of Nelson and Wabash.

When officers arrived, they found a man who had been stabbed multiple times, according to a news release. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Witnesses gave officers the name of a suspect, and that man was located near where the stabbing occurred, the release said. The suspect currently is in custody and the investigation is continuing this morning.

Neither the victim nor the suspect have been publicly identified.
