Obituary: Danis, Rene Norman

Age 78

DANIS , Rene Norman October 26, 1934 - November 17, 2012 It is with loving and open arms the Lord welcomed Rene into the Kingdom of Heaven.

Rene was born in Burlington, Vermont to Charles and Lucienne (Campagna) Danis on October 26, 1934 and lived a very full life.

While growing up Rene was always around music.

Hid dad would sing and Rene and his brothers would play guitars and fiddles.

He was also a very hard worker.

He had a paper route at the age of six and started working in the cotton Mills at the age of 16.

Rene proudly served in the US Air Force from 1956 to 1960.

He married Patricia Frucci on October 1, 1960 and together they raised three wonderful children.

Rene was a huge car enthusiast (Plymouth always seemed to be the car of choice) and with this interest he ran a successful business, Empire Auto Body, for a number of years.

Rene then worked for Spokane Falls Community College and retired after 28 years.

Rene appreciated family times and get-togethers as he had very strong family values.

After retiring Rene enjoyed taking trips to Minnesota to visit his grandchildren, going to car shows with his son, doing home improvement and yard projects, and watching NASCAR.

He never hesitated to lend anyone a helping hand and was a great person to go to if you needed advice or just needed someone to listen to you.

Rene was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lucienne (Campagna); five brothers, Robert, Roger, Lionel, Andrew and Richard “Dickie”; and two sisters, Bertha La Course and Lillian Danaher.

Rene is survived by his very loving wife of 52 years, Patricia; daughters, Cynthia (Shaun) Clark, Brenda (Gary Junior) Robbins; son, Brian Danis; two grandchildren, Nicole and Rachel Robbins; sisters, Roland (Theodore) Maher and Anita (Richard) Reeves; as well as numerous nieces and nephews The family would like to give a very special “thanks” to Hospice of Spokane and the Hospice House; the Cancer Staff at Rockwood Clinic and Deaconess Medical Centers, Sr. Jackie Welch and Father Matthew Larsen of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish.

We would also like to thank all of Rene’s friends and their families at Spokane Falls Community College.

A Memorial Celebration will be held Tuesday, November 27, at 1:00 p.m. at The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 3624 W. Indian Trail Rd.
