Obituary: Haglund, Virginia Marie

Age 93

HAGLUND, Virginia Marie Virginia was born on August 31, 1919, and slipped quietly into eternal slumber on November 16, 2012.

Virginia was a lifetime resident of Spokane, attending Havermale Jr. High and graduating from North Central High School.

She worked for the railroad prior to WWII, was a licensed barber and served many, many families in Spokane as housekeeper/companion until breast cancer forced her into retirement at age 75.

Cancer, surgery and treatment left her 18 years cancer free until her death.

Virginia loved her cancer support group - making new and lasting friendships.

Virginia loved Bingo, she and her mother were familiar faces at several Bingo establishments.

She must have been born under a lucky star as she won often.

Virginia was much loved by all those who knew her.

Virginia was vivacious, quirky, clever and outspoken, always ready for a new adventure.

Her dimpled smile and cheerful nature will be missed.

Virginia leaves two nieces and two nephews, Jackie Jo (Haglund) Hopkins of Spokane, Gregory J. Haglund and wife Linda of Moses Lake, James P. Haglund of Wenatchee, and JoAnn M. (Haglund) Tanneberg and husband Jason of Wenatchee.

She also leaves behind seven great nieces and nephews, Todd, Kellanne, Deidre-Jo, Eric, Christian, Patrick and Nicolas; eight great-great nieces and nephews, Melissa, John, Chris, Amber, Emma, Sunshine, Alex and Ava Jo.

Services will be held at a later date.
