Obituary: Pixley, Rex Arland

Age 79

PIXLEY, Rex Arland (Age 79) Of Lenore and formerly of Harpster passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at Sacred Heart Medical Facility in Spokane.

Rex was born November 15, 1933 to Francis Pixley and Rosalie Blewett Pixley in Clearwater, Idaho.

Rex was educated in Idaho and Montana.

His Dad was in the Forest Service and moved frequently.

He moved to Missoula at age ten and at age 18 he joined the Air Force and attended aircraft and power plant mechanic school.

He was an aircraft mechanic for all of his working life.

He was married while stationed in Germany and at 22 he joined the Montana Air National Guard as a full time civil service employee.

He retired from DynCorp.

He transferred to Europe and spent 18 years maintaining aircraft.

Rex enjoyed his time in Europe, sampling local culture and Volksmarching.

His motto was “See Something Well” He retired at 60 and returned to the place of his birth where he set up his art studio and was an exceptional portrait artist.

He is survived by his mother Rosalie Blewett Pixley of Lewiston, his Foster brother Edward Joiner, his children Charles, Mary, Daniel and Arlette, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and his special friend Grace Serrano.

He was preceded in death by his father and sister LaVonne Pixley Bell.

Viewing will be held 10:00am to 1:00pm Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Trenary Funeral Home.

The Funeral will follow at 2:00pm.

Following the Service there will be a covered dish dinner at the IOOF Hall in Kooskia.

A private interment will be held at Tahoe Mountain Rest Cemetery.
