Coffee house opens on 57th
Mike and Deb Nelson wanted to call their new South Hill coffee shop Revel Coffee.
But friends told them all businesses need a number in the name.
“So we called it Revel 77,” said Mike Nelson of the new shop the couple operates at 3223 E. 57th Ave. in the Moran Prairie Shopping Center. That retail strip is owned and developed by Spokane restaurant owner Cyrus Vaughn. The Nelsons serve Doma, Victrola and Water Avenue coffees, operating seven days a week.
The shop’s grand opening is Friday.
Mike King of NAI Black represented the Nelsons, and Greg Byrd of Cornerstone represented the landlord in the deal.
Work begins on fountain building
Work has started on the new Riverfront Park rotary fountain building, going up just west of the park’s landmark water feature near the intersection of Spokane Falls Boulevard and Howard Street.
The 1,200-square-foot building and adjoining 1,300-square-foot patio will provide outdoor seating, food service, restrooms and storage.
Park Manager Craig Butz said the project will replace two trailers that have provided restrooms and food service .
Construction is expected to cost $485,000; Butz said the park hopes to open the facility by Bloomsday.
Walker Construction is general contractor; NAC Architecture of Spokane designed the project.
Kootenai River Inn expands
A destination casino and hotel on the Kootenai River in Bonners Ferry is adding a hotel wing.
The Best Western Plus Kootenai River Inn Casino and Spa, owned by the Kootenai Tribe of Idaho, is adding 36 rooms, including two deluxe family suites.
The addition will give it a total of 101 guest rooms, more than 500 gaming machines in three casinos, the Springs Restaurant and Lounge, and the Kootenai Spa.
The wing is scheduled for completion in May. The architectural design is by Rann Haight Design of Coeur d’Alene, architecture is by Longwell + Trapp of Coeur d’Alene, and construction is by T.W. Clark of Spokane.
