Try secession experiment
I smiled when I first heard of Texas and Rick Perry petitioning to secede from the United States. As I continue to think about it, I am now wondering, “Why not?”
Our federal government seems to be broken. No matter the urgency of our problems – and we have some very serious ones – brought before our Congress and our president, they seem unwilling to take the situation seriously and get to work on solutions.
With this in mind, I now wonder if it wouldn’t be a good idea to let Texas become independent for several years and see how they …

Our federal government seems to be broken. No matter the urgency of our problems – and we have some very serious ones – brought before our Congress and our president, they seem unwilling to take the situation seriously and get to work on solutions.
With this in mind, I now wonder if it wouldn’t be a good idea to let Texas become independent for several years and see how they fare. There could be a reunification provision that would allow the state to rejoin the U.S. if it wanted to.
Perhaps smaller units could deal more effectively with their local problems than our massive group of party-oriented delegates who retire on the job in Washington.
