WSU defeats BYU 67-52

Lia Galdeira scored 15 points and Washington State got out to a hot start and cruised past Brigham Young 67-52 in a nonconference women’s basketball game Saturday at Beasley Coliseum in Pullman.

WSU made 7 of 10 3-pointers in the first half and led 41-24 at intermission. Tia Presley added 12 points and seven assists for Washington State, which improved to 2-3 on the season.

Lexi Eaton and Morgan Bailey combined for 25 points for BYU (3-3).

Eastern Washington 50, Cal State Fullerton 45: Lexie Nelson made 12 of 14 free throws and finished with 15 points and Carrie Ojeda had 11 points and 11 rebounds as the Eagles edged the Titans to take third place in the Cal Classic at Berkeley, Calif.

EWU made 16 of 20 free throws and held a 38-31 advantage in rebounds.

Cal State Fullerton was led by Alex Thomas and Brianna Barfield, who scored nine apiece.

Whitworth 105, Caltech 26: Six players scored in double figures as the Pirates (4-0) overwhelmed Caltech (0-2) in a nonconference game in Los Angeles.

Kendra Lahue led Whitworth with 16 points.

North Idaho 64, Sheridan 62: Aimee Durbidge scored 17 points and Angela Woods added 14 as the Cardinals edged Sheridan at Hoffman Golden Dome in Sheridan, Wyo.

Kabri Emerson added eight points and a game-high 13 rebounds for NIC.
