Man pleads guilty after dog hurt by trap

Associated Press

HAMILTON, Mont. – A Florence man has pleaded guilty to trapping violations after a dog was injured when it was caught in a trap at a fishing access site.

Juan Lopez, 59, was fined $535, must pay restitution and has lost his trapping privileges for three years. He also must take a trapping education class before his privileges can be reinstated.

Fish Wildlife and Parks wardens cited Lopez after a Labrador retriever got caught in an illegally placed mink trap. The dog had to wear a splint afterward.
