She was born to the late Oscar and Edith Johnson, May 6, 1929 in Walla Walla, WA.
She received a BA in Fine Arts from WSU in 1951.
In the fall of that year she married the late Ray Hirsch.
Dorothy and Ray raised a family of four in Spokane, WA.
In 1965, she began employment as a social worker for the State Dept.
of Health and Welfare.
She retired in 1976 when she married Don Lewis of Spokane, WA.
Dorothy was a people person, always ready with encouragement from a joyful heart.
She loved traveling, knitting, cooking and games of all kinds.
She was artistically talented and whatever she put her hand to was accomplished beautifully and with seeming ease.
Dorothy is survived by her four children: Shannon Hirsch of Maple Valley, WA; Linda Saffer of Springdale, WA; Kelly Hirsch of Redmond, WA; and Scott Hirsch of Kettle Falls, WA.
She is also survived by five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Dee Lewis Celebration Fund at Springdale Community Church.
A Life Celebration gathering will be held at 1:00PM on Thursday, November 29th at Springdale Community Church, 420 N. Main St., Springdale, WA, 99173 (509)258-7333.
Her ashes will be inurned at Spokane Memorial Gardens in Spokane, WA.
