Obituary: Depell, Dolores Marie

Age 83

DePELL, Dolores Marie (Age 83) Of Genesee, Idaho, and more recently Spokane, Washington passed away on November 27, 2012 in Spokane.

Dolores was born September 30, 1929 in Moscow, Idaho, the only child of Fred and Evelyn Hove.

After graduating from Genesee High School, Dolores attended Northern Idaho College of Education, was a graduate of the Dental Nurses’ Training school in San Francisco and upon her return enrolled at the University of Idaho where she met the love of her life, William (Bill) DePell.

On November 27, 1951 Bill and Dolores were married in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

They made their home in Moscow, Idaho and had two children, Marla Jo, and Fred.

During that time of their life Dolores also worked as a secretary for the Appaloosa Horse Club.

Following the family’s return to Dolores’ childhood farm in the Genesee valley, she worked as an Administrative Assistant at Genesee High School, and later spent much of her career as an integral part of the family farm where she drove truck, cooked for harvest crews and cared for her family.

Dolores was also an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Catholic Daughters and donated her time to numerous community activities.

After retiring from farming in 1986, Bill and Dolores moved to Spokane.

They loved to travel and together visited all 50 states, including several winters spent in Arizona and Las Vegas.

Dolores adored her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and spent countless hours watching basketball games, football games and musical performances.

Her grandchildren will always remember her generosity and the help she provided each of them.

An avid Zags fan she enjoyed getting together with neighbors to watch them play.

A competitor by nature, Dolores would never turn down a game of backgammon, cards, or a challenging crossword puzzle.

She was an avid reader, a member of her neighborhood book club, “The Bridlewood Bookies,” and she rarely missed her annual vacation to Las Vegas.

Dolores was preceded in death by her husband, Bill.

She is survived by her daughter, Marla Jo and husband Fred Morscheck; son, Fred DePell and wife Gayle; six grandchildren: Matt Morscheck (Rob), JD Morscheck (Shannon), Travis Morscheck (Nicole), Bill DePell (Kerie), Jake DePell (Meg) and Jessie DePell; and six great grandchildren.

A celebration of her life will be held at an open house from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Friday, November 30 at 308 E. Bridlewood Lane in Spokane.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 1 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Genesee with Fr.

Mike St. Marie officiating.
