Coeur d’Alene loses tourney opener in Oregon
Tennessee-bound Jordan Reynolds scored 24 points and Stanford-bound Kailee Johnson added 21 as Central Catholic of Portland downed Coeur d’Alene 68-52 on the first day of the Northwest Invite in Beaverton, Ore., Thursday.
CdA’s Vikings got into foul trouble early but still came within seven points with 3 minutes to go.
Caelyn Orlandi, who had three 3-pointers, scored 14 points, Kendelyn Brainard 12 and Brittany Packett 10 for the Vikings.
• In other games: Chanel Knight grabbed 15 rebounds and scored 11 points, and teammate Treasure Farmer led all scorers with 13 as Northwest Christian took a 50-31 victory …

Jordan Ward had nine points for the Hawks while the Tigers were led by 12 from Jessica Norlander, who added nine rebounds. … Post Falls rambled past host Lake City 52-21 in an IEL 5A matchup. … Three players had double-figure rebounds in Coeur d’Alene Charter’s 38-19 nonleague victory over visiting Kootenai.
Boys basketball
Dalton Sommer scored 13 of his 20 points in the first quarter when host Priest River took a 10-point lead and went on to down Clark Fork 62-28 in a nonleaguer. Sommer added eight rebounds while teammate RC Akre added 15 points and seven boards.
• In other nonleague games: Justin Rivas scored 24 points and host Okanogan took an 85-28 win over Lake Roosevelt. … Troy took a 17-point lead in the first quarter and beat host Lakeside 66-35 at Plummer.
