Obituary: Martin, Stanley W.

Age 83

MARTIN, Stanley W. Stanley W. Martin and his twin sister, Marilee entered their earthly home in Virginia, MN, on January 24, 1929.

Stan entered his heavenly home on November 22, 2012.

Stan led a full and happy life.

At the age of 19 he moved, along with his family, from Minnesota to Spokane.

Stan served two years in the United States Army and during that time he was married to Lois Dodson.

They had three children - Beth, Bruce and Brian.

Following his Army duty he worked for many years at the Old National Bank, then at Acme Personnel and ended his business career at Seafirst Bank.

In 1981 Lois passed away; in 1982 he married Mary Martin.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Agnes Martin and his brother-in-law, Arvid Baumgartner.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; his children, Beth Bennett, Nashville, TN, Bruce (Heather) Martin, Eugene, OR and Brian (Karen) Martin, Salem, OR.

He is also survived by Mary’s children: Karen (Bob) Carnes, Chattanooga, TN, Deb Palfenier, Spokane Valley, David (Janie) Arnold, Olympia, WA and Heather (Tom) Dennis, Mt.

Pleasant, MI; as well as 23 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition, he is survived by his twin sister, Marilee Baumgartner of Honolulu, HI, and his younger sister, Norma (Art) Roberts, Spokane Valley, along with nieces and nephews.

Stan’s faith in Jesus Christ as his personal Savior was very important to him and he spent many happy years serving the Lord in various capacities at Berean Bible Church.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on December 2nd at the Berean Bible Church, 10910 E. Boone in the Spokane Valley.

In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances may be sent to Village Schools International, c/o Berean Bible Church at the above address.

This organization builds and staffs secondary schools for children in Tanzania, Africa, who would otherwise have no opportunity to complete a high school education.
