McKEE, Barbara Elizabeth (Johnson) March 20, 1925 - November 27, 2012 Barbara Elizabeth Johnson McKee was born March 20, 1925 in Klamath Falls, Oregon to Emily and Stanley Johnson, the fourth of five children. She passed away November 27, 2012 at Avalon Care Center in North Spokane, Washington. Barbara attended grade school in Nespelem, Washington and graduated as salutatorian of her class from Toppenish High School, Toppenish, Washington. She attended college at Central Washington State College in Ellensburg, Washington. It was at college she met and fell in love with Robert (Bob) McKee. They were married December 10, 1944 and together raised three sons. Barbara loved her time traveling with her husband in the many RVs they owned throughout the southwestern United States. She loved family and dedicated her life to God. Barbara was a member of Shadle Park Presbyterian Church since moving to Spokane from Cheyenne, Wyoming in 1962 and for many years volunteered her time as the church librarian. After Bob’s death in 2007, Barbara resided at North Pointe Retirement Center and for most of the past five years at Avalon Care Center. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Bob) in 2007 and her oldest son, Robert (Steve) in 2009. She is survived by two sons: Lowell (Betty Ann) of Spokane and Kim (Jeanette) of Olympia; sister, Maxine Gresset of Lacey, Washington; and brother, Roger Johnson of Ormond Beach, Florida; seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, December 3, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contribution be made to Shadle Park Presbyterian Church, 5508 N. Alberta St, Spokane WA 99205 in memory of Barbara.
