Vandals women lose to Montana 76-65

Montana took advantage of 20 Idaho turnovers as the Grizzlies took a 76-65 women’s basketball win over Idaho at the Lady Griz Classic in Missoula on Thursday.

Senior Katie Baker (Lake City HS) led the Grizzlies (4-2) with 15 points and six rebounds.

Christina Salvatore led five Vandals (1-5) in double figures with 15 points.

Montana’s biggest lead was 22 with 5:47 to play.

The Vandals play Tennessee State tonight at the tournament.

• Jazmijne Davis scored 28 points and Aminah Williams had 17 rebounds as Washington (5-1) dropped host Portland (1-6) in a nonleague game 64-44.

Men’s basketball

C.J. Wilcox finished 27 points, just off his career-high, Aziz N’Diaye scored 12 of his 14 points in the second half, and Washington (3-3) snapped a two-game home losing streak by holding on for a 66-61 victory over visiting Saint Louis (3-3) on Wednesday night. The Huskies (3-3) avenged a 13-point loss last season in St. Louis.
