Obituary: Kenney, Carlene Eva

Age 77

Carlene Eva
(Age 77)

Of Spokane, WA, passed away in her daughter’s arms Wednesday, October 03, 2012, shortly after arriving at her daughter’s home in Idaho Falls, ID. She was surrounded by the love of her family at the time.
Carlene was born on August 10, 1935, in Pullman, WA, to Edgar David Carlson and Ethel Marium Qualey Carlson. She attended several schools growing up as they moved frequently due to her dad being a heavy equipment operator in construction. She loved music and learned to play the piano, organ, saxophone and accordion all with great skill. She graduated in 1953, from Jenkins High School in Chewelah, WA and later graduated from Kinman Business College and began working in the business and payroll office for Rosauers Supermarket chain in Spokane, which is where she met her husband, Robert William Kenney. After working for Rosauers for almost 30 years she retired in 1992.
Carlene, with her two children, married Robert (Bob) Kenney on June 19, 1965. They enjoyed square dancing, bowling, camping, boating, water skiing, were members of an RV club and active members of the Spokane Valley Elks Lodge for many years.
Carlene is survived by her daughter, Laurie Kay McFarland Johnson, of Idaho Falls, ID. She has been a very proud grandmother of three, one granddaughter, Dusti Carlene Johnson Jensen of Twin Falls, ID and two grandsons, Shane David Johnson and Ryan William Johnson both of Idaho Falls, ID. She was thrilled to become a great-grandmother in April of 2012, to Nate Tyler Jensen of Twin Falls, ID.
She was preceded in death by her son, Edgar David McFarland, on July 26,1973, her father, March 2, 1991; and mother, November 18, 1991. On July 22, 2001, after 36 years of marriage, her husband and best friend, Robert (Bob) William Kenney, passed away in his sleep. She is now taking care of her identical twin great granddaughters, Macie Christine and Ellie Carlene Jensen that have been waiting for her since April 2012.
Carlene’s last wishes were to have no funeral or memorial service as her sense of humor came through stating that she doesn’t have time for all that nonsense because she needs to get to heaven to be with her son, parents, husband and great granddaughters. She will be laid to rest between her son and husband at the Greenwood Cemetery in Spokane, WA. In lieu of flowers she has requested donations be made to the Spokane Cancer Society and Multiple Sclerosis research at the University of Utah.
