Indians lead the way at Richland Invite

North Central’s Kai Wilmot won the boys race and the Indians’ Katie Knight won the girls race at the Richland Invitational Saturday at Carmichael Middle School in Richland.

Wilmot finished the 3,000-meter course in 14 minutes, 44.73 seconds to win the boys 3-mile Division I race. Lewis and Clark’s Sumner Goodwin was third (15:11.81) and John Dressel of Mt. Spokane was fourth (15:17.54).

Knight won the girls Division I race in 17:16.53.

• Josie Brown took second place in the top flight and the Coeur d’Alene girls cross country team took first place at the Sunfair Invitational at Franklin Park in Yakima.

Brown finished the 3-mile course in 18 minutes, 37.34 seconds. Riverside finished fourth. The Rams’ Delaney McMahon was seventh in 19:50.86.

The Coeur d’Alene boys finished second behind Eisenhower. The Vikings’ top finisher in the top flight, Michael Dunton, finished ninth in 16:28.50. The top local placer was Lakeside’s Stephen Nelson, who was sixth in 16:17.39.

• Scott Kopcynski finished first in 17:41, but the Lakeside boys took the team title at the Bullpup Invitational. The Eagles had four runners finish inside the top ten, including Ryan Coffman, who finished second in 17:42.

Gonzaga Prep won the girls title. East Valley’s Brittany Aquino finished first in 20:26.8.

• The Lake City boys had four runners inside the top 10 and the Timberwolves took first place at the Sandpoint Invitational.

Sandpoint’s Sam Levora finished the 5,000-meter course first in 15:52.78. Lake City’s Jake Finney (16:08.96) was second and Kyler Little (16:09.25) was third. Timberlake’s Rachel Ward won the girls race in 20:00.06. Sandpoint’s Mikhaela Woodward was second in 20:12.95. Sandpoint won the team title.
