Cathy has heart for needy

More than half a million people will emerge from our prison system this year. Sadly, more than half of them are likely to return. Much of the recidivism could be reduced if only we were better at making the distinction between those who can be helped and those who continue to hurt us. Lumping one with the other is both expensive and dangerous.

Few politicians have taken the initiative to tackle this problem. One courageous conservative, Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, took a bold stand to vote yes on the Second Chance Act of 2007. Signed into law, this legislation expanded counseling and treatment to amenable offenders and provided them and their families with the resources necessary to successfully rejoin society.

This is but one example of Cathy’s commitment to our community to keep us strong, vibrant and safe. I hope you will join me in supporting Cathy McMorris Rodgers for Washington’s 5th Congressional District.
