Metal thieves hit Dick’s Sporting Goods

Metal thieves hit Spokane’s first Dick’s Sporting Goods store Monday night before the store could host its expected Nov. 9 grand opening. The thieves stole metal roofing, said Spokane County Sheriff’s spokesman Craig Chamberlin. The store is located at 14014 E. Indiana Ave., near the Spokane Valley Mall. The construction site occupies more than 45,000 square feet of space. Chamberlin was unable to provide the value of the materials stolen. The sporting goods store is expected to open Nov. 9, with about 60-70 employees. It will be the company’s first store in Eastern Washington. There are two others located in Western Washington and two in Southern Idaho.
