Rather sad, WSU

Edward R. Murrow’s pursuit of excellence in journalism embodies the spirit of the awards that carry his name. Murrow Award recipients demonstrate the spirit of excellence that Murrow made a standard for the broadcast news profession.

Dan Rather’s use of forged documents in a one-sided “60 Minutes” hit piece aimed at President George W. Bush just before the 2004 presidential election does not live up to Murrow’s standards. No wonder journalism is a dying profession. Sad day, Washington State University School of Journalism.
