Sheriff releases names of 2 injured in plane crash

Associated Press
ST. MARIES, Idaho — Officials in Benewah County have released the names of the Coeur d’Alene couple who escaped serious injury in a weekend plane crash near St. Maries. Sheriff Bob Kirts tells the Lewiston Tribune that Richard and Jennifer Whitehead were flying home from Lewiston Saturday when their Cessna began experiencing engine trouble. A wing clipped a tree as Richard Whitehead attempted to land in a pasture and the plane was flipped onto its top. Richard Whitehead suffered minor injuries while Jennifer Whitehead was airlifted to a hospital as a precaution. Kirts says her injuries also appeared to be minor. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.
