Vandals win fifth straight volleyball match

Allison Walker totaled 19 kills and 14 digs and Alyssa Schultz added 13 kills and two blocks to power the Idaho Vandals to a 25-9, 27-25, 22-25, 25-18 victory over the Texas-Arlington Roadrunners in Western Athletic Conference volleyball action Thursday in Arlington, Texas.

The win was the fifth straight for the Vandals, who improved to 8-10 overall and 6-2 in the WAC. The Roadrunners fell to 6-14, 2-6.

• Shanae Burgin had 10 kills and the Weber State Wildcats (8-12, 2-7) breezed to a 25-14, 25-22, 25-18 win over the Eastern Washington Eagles (0-20, 0-9) in Big Sky Conference play in Ogden, Utah.

Talia Fermantez, Allie Schumacher and Cora Kellerman each had seven kills for EWU.

• Sandra Lozic used a .379 attack percentage to pile up 15 kills and lead the San Diego Toreros (15-2, 7-0) to a 21-25, 25-10, 25-19, 25-10 win over the Gonzaga Bulldogs (9-10, 1-5) in West Coast Conference play in San Diego.

Savannah Blinn had 11 kills to pace the Bulldogs, while Kristina Lavrisha added 12 digs.

Women’s soccer

Chelsea Small and Annie Millard scored second-half goals and the Idaho Vandals beat the San Jose State Spartans 2-0 in Western Athletic Conference play in Moscow.

Small’s fifth goal of the season came at 50:50 with assists from Megan Lopez and Katie Baran. Millard’s unassisted effort was her first of the season.

• Lauren Luke scored from 6 yards out in the 82nd minute to help the Gonzaga Bulldogs (6-6-1, 0-1-1) earn a 1-1 tie with the visiting Portland Pilots (6-3-3, 0-0-1) in West Coast Conference play.

Heather Johnson and Kasey Rubosky assisted on Luke’s second goal of the season.
