Heroin, cash seized in drug bust

A lengthy drug investigation conducted by the Spokane Police Department resulted in several arrests and the seizure of heroin Friday.

Spokane police detectives executed a search warrant about 1:40 p.m. at an apartment complex at 121 S. Havana St. During surveillance, police saw people conducting drug deals near businesses around Sprague Avenue and Havana Street.

The SWAT team responded because detectives learned one of the suspects might have been armed.

Detectives seized about half a pound of heroin and more than $3,700 cash from the apartment.

Scott Whitacre, 52, was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. Guy Whitacre, 51, and Joshua G. Swanson, 25, face charges of possession of a controlled substance.
