No. 3 Linfield rolls past Whitworth

Mickey Inns passed for 261 yards and five touchdowns and backup Josh Yoder added a pair of TD passes as the third-ranked Linfield Wildcats (5-0, 2-0) romped to a 54-14 Northwest Conference football victory over the Whitworth Pirates (4-2, 0-2) in McMinnville, Ore., on Saturday. Linfield scored TDs on five straight possessions spanning the second and third quarters to put the game away. Whitworth averted a shutout with a pair of fourth-quarter scores. Bryan Peterson connected with Austin Ehlo from 6 yards out for the first score and DJ Tripoli scored on a 20-yard run to cap the scoring for the Pirates. John Shaffer carried 15 times for 110 yards and a score for Linfield. Tripoli finished with 70 yards on 13 carries for the Pirates. Peterson was 11 of 23 passing for 120 yards with one interception. Jake DeGooyer caught six passes for 69 yards. Linfield outgained Whitworth 585-225 and had a 30-13 advantage in first downs. Whitworth returns home to host Puget Sound on Saturday at the Pine Bowl. Pacific Lutheran 41, Pacific 23: Dalton Ritchey passed for 262 yards and a TD and the Lutes (3-2, 2-1 NWC) added four rushing TDs to cruise over the Boxers (2-4, 1-2) in Forest Grove, Ore. Brandon James carried 11 times for 70 yards and a score for PLU, which also had TD runs from Niko Madison, Cody Pohren and Ritchey. Kyle Warner caught 11 passes for 142 yards. PJ Minaya passed for 342 yards and three scores for Pacific. Jakob Lawrence had two TD catches. Central Washington 51, Simon Fraser 10: Demetrius Sumler rushed for 226 yards and five touchdowns and the Wildcats (5-2, 5-1) rolled to a Great Northwest Athletic Conference victory over the Clan (3-4, 2-4) in Ellensburg, Wash. Sumler scored on runs of 1, 47 and 7 yards as the Wildcats took a 31-0 led at halftime. Sumler added TD runs of 8 and 37 yards in the second half. Central Washington outrushed Simon Fraser 374-98 on the day. Ryan Robertson hooked up with Anthony Spain for a 7-yard TD, Sean Davis booted a 21-yard field goal and Jordan Todd scored on a 16-yard run to cap the scoring for the Wildcats. Carroll College 21, Montana-Western 14: Dakota Stonehouse connected with Dylan Simac for a touchdown with 27 seconds left and the NAIA eighth-ranked Fighting Saints (5-2, 5-1) pulled out a Frontier Conference victory over the Bulldogs (2-4, 2-4) in Helena.
