THOMPSON, Ann Elizabeth
Ann Elizabeth Thompson passed away September 11, 2012, at Spokane Hospice House, surrounded by family.
She was born in Boardman, Oregon, in 1924 and was a daughter of Danish dairy farmers.
In 1944, Ann married and had a son named Morrie.
In 1951, she was remarried to Bill Thompson and had two sons, John and Scott.
During Ann and Bill’s 55 year marriage, they lived in Oregon, Arizona and Washington finally settling in Spokane in 1963.
Bill and Ann shared many activities together including walking, music and traveling.
They would walk in Manito Park in the summer and attend the Park music concerts.
Ann would also walk in a nearby church in the winter.
They traveled to Denmark through the years to visit Ann’s relatives and traveled to Cannon Beach every spring to get away from the long Spokane “winters.”
Ann loved children.
She worked at Sacajawea Jr. High in the cafeteria and also worked as a teacher’s aide at other Spokane schools.
In her later years, she provided full time daycare for several of the neighboring families.
The kids loved being with her and she loved them like her own.
Ann was a good sport and a great friend and had many long time friends.
All of her six grandkids have memories of their walks with her to Manito Park to feed the ducks.
They also spent many hours working on puzzles together.
Ann was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, and will be greatly missed by all.
Memorials may be made to Manito United Methodist Church, 3220 So.
