Tale of two sentencings

I read two articles in the Oct. 6 paper that I find particularly disheartening. Two horrendous crimes have been committed. A man stole a lot of money from an elderly lady he was supposed to be caring for. He was sentenced to 10 years. Karl Thompson Jr.’s taxpayer-retained attorneys are asking he only serve 27 to 33 months; less than three years for causing the death of an innocent human being.

I sincerely hope the prosecution wins, and Thompson, who has been running around totally free since convicted, gets at least as much time in prison as the aforementioned thief.

I really think Lady Justice would shed some tears if the taking of money is considered worse than the taking of a life.
