Maine town abuzz after john suspect names released

Clarke Canfield Associated Press

KENNEBUNK, Maine (AP) — Police have released the first batch of names of men accused of paying a fitness instructor for sex in the small town of Kennebunk.

The release of 21 names Monday evening followed 11th-hour legal wrangling as an attorney for two of them tried to keep the list confidential.

The small seaside town became national news after a Zumba instructor was accused of turning her dance studio into a brothel. Police said more than 150 people are suspected of being clients.

The dance instructor and her business partner both pleaded not guilty.

Kim Ackley, a local real estate agent, said she believes the interest will die down once the remaining names become public. She said the men who’re charged will have to get on with their lives.
