Fairfield Care receives donation for upgrades

From Staff Reports

Fairfield Care recently announced it has received a $100,000 donation from retired Fairfield wheat farmer Jack Felgenhauer.

Fairfield Care is a nonprofit organization created to take over a senior apartment and nursing home facility in Fairfield after it closed. The community was concerned about the loss of jobs as well as forcing its senior citizens to move farther away from family members.

“We are pleased to be here in Fairfield serving our seniors in a caring environment as well as providing the positive social interaction and a variety of activities,” said Fairfield Care President Karl Felgenhauer in a statement announcing the donation. Karl Felgenhauer is the nephew of Jack Felgenhauer.

The money will be used to upgrade living spaces to meet assisted living standards, including new equipment, kitchen upgrades and new carpet.
