Police arrest suspect in gunpoint car theft

Staff report
Police say they caught a car thief in north Spokane minutes after the theft at gunpoint was reported. A report that a man had held a gun to a woman’s head and stolen her car brought police to 4100 N. Division St. on Friday night at 8:19 p.m., a news release from the Spokane Police Department said. Searching the area, police spotted the car leaving nearby NorthTown Mall. Using their vehicles, police trapped the car in the Office Depot parking lot across Division and took the driver, 25-year-old Michael Lezard, into custody on suspicion of first-degree robbery and possession of a stolen firearm. While working at the scene, police saw another car across the street that had been reported stolen and arrested its driver, Stephen Link, 46, on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle and drug crimes, the release said.
