Eastern volleyball sweeps Montana

After losing 22 consecutive matches, the Eastern Washington volleyball team scored its second straight victory, a 26-16, 25-18, 25-17 sweep of Montana in Big Sky Conference play at Cheney.

The Eagles (2-22, 2-11) were led by Talia Fermantez (12 kills), Cora Kellerman (11) and Allie Schumacher (10). Laney Brown turned in 26 assists and Celeste Crosby 15 digs.

• Host Gonzaga (9-14, 1-9) made 28 attack errors in losing 25-21, 26-16, 25-22 to 18th-ranked BYU (20-2, 8-2). Savannah Blinn led Gonzaga with 19 kills on .300 hitting.

• Idaho won the first set before dropping the next three in losing to host Texas-San Antonio 25-27, 27-25, 25-22, 25-23 in a Western Athletic Conference match. Allison Baker led UI (10-12, 8-4) with 18 kills, nine digs and two blocks. UTSA is 14-8, 7-5.

• Yang Yang had 22 kills and four blocks, Rosie Robinson had 20 digs and Allison Meehan contributed 30 assists as host North Idaho College (19-4, 5-4) defeated Eastern Utah (11-15, 2-77) 21-25, 25-22, 25-19, 25-19 in a Scenic West Athletic Conference match.

Women’s soccer

Washington (10-6, 2-, 3-5-1) shut out Oregon 2-0 in a Pac-12 match in Seattle. Allie Beahan and Lindsay Elston scored against the Ducks (7-9-2, 2-6-1).
