The Spokane Country Club announced plans for building summer cottages on its land on the Little Spokane River.

The club said it had 38 tracts available, complete with sewer and water service. Each tract was about 1 1/4 acres. Members could build a cottage and use it during the summer and take meals in the club dining room.

Also, the club said it would start work on a second nine-hole golf course and two new tennis courts.

“A waiting room and reading room for chauffeurs also will be built,” The Spokesman-Review reported.

The Spokane Country Club had 275 members.

From the gym beat: Meanwhile, Lewis and Clark High School announced evening gym classes for working girls.

“The shop girl may don her bloomers and frolic to her heart’s content,” the paper said.

The head of the LC athletic department said the classes would feature a musician to play the piano during drills. He expected a large contingent of department store clerks and stenographers.
