Obituary: Sampson, Mark E.

SAMPSON,
Mark E.
(Age 82)

Entered into rest on Friday, October 19, 2012 in his home in Spokane, WA.

He is survived by his three children, Arron (and Debbie) Sampson of Kent, WA, Bryan (and Helena) Sampson of Cheney, WA, Melanie (and Jerry) Gilbert of Spokane Valley, WA; eighteen grandchildren, twenty eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Sam (and Nora) Sampson of Mead, WA; numerous nieces and nephews to which he adored each and every one of them.

He is preceded in death by his wife Bonnie (Viola) of 52 years, sons Daniel, Mark and Dale, his parents, Selmer and Steena, four brothers, and four sisters.

He was born in Glasgow, MT on December 27, 1929.

He married the love of his life at the Hitching Post in Coeur d’ Alene, ID in 1950.

He worked for the Spokane County Road Dept.

from 1962 until he retired in 1988.

He was a very devoted husband, father, brother, uncle and grandpa or “Grumpa”, as his granddaughter Kati would call him.

Loved to fish, camp, gamble a little, and play cribbage, but most of all he loved the “family band”.

He was happiest when his wife, sons Arron and Dale, dad, brother Al, niece Gale, nephew Tim would get out the guitars, fiddles, mandolin and sit around the piano and play a few tunes.

Even the neighbors would stop by and listen.

He sure missed those days, as a lot of us do.

Services will be held Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 10:30 am, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints, 732 W. Indiana in Spokane, WA.

A light lunch reception to follow.
