In brief: Motorcyclist now in custody after Friday crash on on-ramp

From Staff Reports

A motorcyclist crashed after losing control on a freeway on-ramp in Spokane late Friday night.

Tyrel M. Clark, 30, was westbound on the Altamont Street on-ramp to Interstate 90 when he lost control and struck a median barrier shortly after 10 p.m., the Washington State Patrol said.

The on-ramp was blocked for less than an hour because of the incident.

Clark, who was wearing a helmet, was transported to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center with injuries but had been discharged by Saturday night.

Clark was in custody on suspicion of driving under the influence, the WSP said.

Brush fires burn many acres near resort and on refuge

Fishtrap Lake Resort was evacuated Saturday afternoon because of a nearby brush fire.

The 30-acre fire was about two miles west of the intersection of Fishtrap Road and Sprague Highway, KREM-TV reported. About 60 people were evacuated from the resort.

Another brush fire burned about 70 acres on the Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge on Saturday and caused the closure of part of Cheney Plaza Road. About 50 county and city firefighters were dispatched to fight the blaze.
