Obituary: Persons, Garald

Age 73

PERSONS,
Garald

Born 8/13/39 in Minnesota to Harold and Marian Persons, passed away 8/20/12 at age 73.

He grew up in Richland WA with sisters Derrith Dean and Anne Persons (‘98 RIP).

After high school ‘57, Gary attended CWU and married Jan Bollinger.

They had two children, Kim Persons Beitelspacher and Scott Persons, and moved to Spokane in 1969.

Gary worked for the City of Spokane as an Asst.

to the City Manager, retiring after 33 years.

He served on the City Council and was a Volunteer Fire Commissioner.

He and Jan enjoyed their large garden, Schnauzers, regular trips to Reno and Lincoln City and organizing Richland Bomber Alumni Luncheons.

Gary’s favorite memories were trips fishing in Alaska and Westport.

After Jan passed away (‘07) he moved to Puyallup WA to be closer to his extended family.

There he realized a lifelong dream of being a farmer.

He bought a10 acre farm, tractor and various farm animals!

Sadly his declining health forced him to move and simplify life.

Fortunately his infectious humor and good nature provided him instant friends wherever he went.

Gary was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and uncle and will be remembered by many loving family and friends.

He had made a decision to put his faith and trust in Jesus Christ so we look forward to seeing him in heaven…healthy and whole again.
