SCHUCKER, Cecelia Marie
(Age 93)
Born December 27, 1918 in Grandview, WA to parents Irene and Marie Charvet.
She married Lawrence (Chuck) Schucker in 1934 at the young age of 16.
She spent many of the following years being a wife and mother to five children including Loralene, Barbara, Larry, Keith and Susan.
She was always in the kitchen cooking, canning or on holidays making the family favorite turkey and dressing.
If she attended a family meal not in her home, she always brought her hors d’oeuvre tray and Washington nut pie.
After the children were older she enjoyed playing golf and bowling sometimes two or three times a week.
She was an avid gardener and shared with us many things from her vegetable garden.
Her hanging petunia baskets on her patio were showstoppers.
She was also a member of St. Mary’s Church, Valley Hospital Auxiliary, Spokane Valley Fire Fighters Auxiliary and Ladies of Kiwanis.
She is survived by her children Barbara Arseneau of Phoenix, AZ, Larry (Darlene) of Spokane Valley, Keith (Lindah) of Westminster, MD, and Susan Dietrick of Vancouver, WA.
Also two sisters, Rose Cook and Blanche Krall both of Portland, OR and lifetime family friend Jim Kearney.
She is also survived by several grandchildren including Steven, Renee, Mark, Brian, Melodie, Patrick, Scott, Wade Lane, Kristina Kai, Elaine, Teri, Debbie, Kelli, Michael, Tammy, Kristin, James and Jennifer.
There are also numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Chuck and oldest daughter Loralene.
A special thanks goes to Marlene Zeis, the very caring staff at Guardian Angles Nursing Home and Hospice of Spokane.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 7, 2012 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 304 S. Adams, Spokane Valley, Washington.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Cecelia’s name to Spokane Valley Meals on Wheels, Hospice of Spokane and The Vanessa Behan Crisis Clinic.
