Ratings blockbuster

Tags:NFL

The Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants in Wednesday night’s NFL season opener on NBC will be the highest-rated game of the regular season – nationally, as well as in Dallas-Fort Worth and New York. It should be all downhill from there. That’s not exactly going out on a limb. The annual season kickoff game, the brainchild of John Madden, has been a ratings monster. The last two (Minnesota Vikings-New Orleans Saints in 2010, Saints-Green Bay Packers in 2011) are second and third on NBC’s all-time regular-season rankings. No. 1 is the Cowboys-Giants regular-season finale on New Year’s night 2012. – Dallas Morning News
