Low taxes create jobs

I am 27, born and raised in Spokane, and I’ve been looking for work since I lost my job in 2011.

A recent letter to The Spokesman-Review complained that Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers wouldn’t answer his question, “Please send me any list you might have of jobs created in our district by the extension of the GOP tax cuts.” This shows a lack of understanding about how job creation works and how federal policy affects job creation.

An employer is more likely to hire me as a worker if he/she has more money, and more likely to fire workers when losing money. Tax cuts allow employers to keep more of their money, which they can then use on more workers. Tax increases force employers to give more money to the government, leaving less to hire workers. Even a few extra thousand dollars could mean the difference between hiring and firing an employee. That’s why it’s so important to keep tax rates low and avoid tax increases, so people like me can find jobs.

Thank you Rep. McMorris Rodgers for voting to extend the current tax rates and opposing tax increases. I trust Republicans like Cathy with my job future.
