Prince Harry has made his first public appearance since nude photos of him made international headlines. A fully clothed Harry attended an awards ceremony Monday for the charity WellChild to celebrate the lives of seriously ill children and the doctors who care for them.

The prince, dressed in a smart gray suit, made no reference to the publication of the pictures, which captured him frolicking in the nude with an unidentified woman in his Las Vegas hotel room.

The third in line to Britain’s throne appeared relaxed as he gave a speech and chatted with the children at the ceremony, held at a London hotel.

Harry’s uncle, Prince Andrew, was also busy Monday. Andrew rappelled 785 feet down the side of Europe’s tallest building to raise money for charity. The 52-year-old’s stunt began on London skyscraper The Shard’s 87th floor and finished on the 20th, and took him 30 minutes.

Following the descent Monday morning, the prince said: “I will never do it again.”

Andrew was part of a group raising funds for the Outward Bound Trust and the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund.

Crowe gets lost; Coast Guard assists

Oscar-winning actor Russell Crowe lost his way kayaking in the waters off New York’s Long Island and was picked up by a U.S. Coast Guard boat and ferried to a harbor.

The 48-year-old actor was kayaking with a friend and launched from Cold Spring Harbor Saturday on the Long Island Sound, according to U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer Robert Swieciki. As it got dark, the two got lost and eventually headed for shore, beaching their kayaks in Huntington Bay, nearly 10 miles east from where they had set out.

The U.S. Coast Guard was patrolling the area, and heard Crowe call out to them from the shore around 10 p.m., Swieciki said. The Coast Guard officers pulled them up and, along with their kayaks, gave them a ride to Huntington Harbor.
