Chiefs reassign 4 players
The Spokane Chiefs have reassigned four players, leaving them with 30 on the roster.
Spokane reassigned goaltenders Trevor Martin (Sherwood Park, AMHL) and Tyson Verhelst (Southwest Cougars, MMHL), defenseman Colton Bobyk (Red Deer, AMHL) and forward Jacob Cardiff (Notre Dame, SMHL).
The Chiefs play Everett on Friday and Tri-City on Saturday at the Tri-City Americans Pre-Season Tournament in Kennewick this weekend.
Baseball
Two Gonzaga University baseball players have been named top prospects by Baseball America. Junior pitcher Marco Gonzales was listed as the No. 6 prospect on Team USA and sophomore pitcher Derek Callahan was listed as the No. 9 prospect from the West Coast League.
Basketball
The Idaho women’s basketball team announced its 2012-13 schedule Tuesday.
The Vandals host Portland (Nov. 16), Montana (Nov. 18) and Eastern Washington (Nov. 27) and visit Wyoming (Nov. 9), Colorado (Nov. 11), UC Irvine (Dec. 5), UC Riverside (Dec. 7), Washington (Dec. 16) and Gonzaga (Dec. 20) in nonconference play, in addition to games against Montana and Tennessee State at the Lady Griz Classic in Missoula Nov. 29-30.
Idaho opens WAC play Dec. 29 at home against Seattle U.
