LEHINGER, Alfred L.
Went to be with the Lord on August 29, 2012. He was born in Denver, Colorado on November 14, 1926, of Amos and Miriam Lehinger. He was a WWII Veteran of the Army Air Corps. He was a structural ironworker and member of Ironworkers Local #14, Spokane, for 60 years. He worked on many structures, some of which were Grand Coulee Dam, McNary Dam, Hungry Horse Dam, Hell’s Canyon Dam, Hanford Atomic Reservation, Missile Sites, Deaconess Hospital, Sacred Heart Hospital, the World’s Fair Clock Tower and Pavilion. He loved being an ironworker almost as much as he loved his large diverse family. Predeceased by his father, mother; sisters Evelyn, Helen and Edith (Hammond); brothers Edward and Richard. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sue; and his sons, Scott (Pamela), Cass (Kathleen); and his daughters, Debra (Myatt), Sheila, Valerie (Munn) and husband Robert, Katje (Hansen) and husband Troy, and Pamela (Finley). He is also survived by his brother, Phillip; sister, Judy (Clouse); and aunt and uncle Ruth and Bert Winters. He was so proud of his 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Al was a much loved husband, father, grandfather, great- grandfather, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him. He spent the last six months of his life being cared for by his wife and the wonderful caregivers of Hospice of Spokane. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 9, 2012, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, N. 7307 Nevada, Rev. Michael Von Behren officiating. Inurnment will be at the Washington State Veteran’s Cemetery, 21702 W. Espanola Rd., Medical Lake, WA, on Monday, September 10, 2012, at 10:30 A.M. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
