STICKNEY, Beverly Ann

On September 1, 2012 Beverly Stickney peacefully parted from her family.

Beverly Ann Holmes was born April 26, 1933 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho to Gordon and Agnes Holmes.

Bev and her sister, Bonnie, were then raised by their paternal grandparents,
Christ and Petra Amanda Holm.
Beverly attended Coeur d’Alene High School where she met the love of her life and best friend, Jim Stickney.

They were married for nearly 62 years.

Bev and Jim started their life together in Coeur d’Alene but were soon separated by the conflict in Korea.

When Jim was living in Colorado preparing to be shipped to Korea, Bev gave birth to their son, James Stickney Jr. Jim was able to fly home long enough to see his son before departing for combat.

While Jim was away for 14 months, Beverly remained in Coeur d’Alene focused on raising their son.

Jim and Beverly later made the decision to move to Spokane, WA where they resided for 35 years.

During this time, daughter Pamela Jean was born.

Beverly’s focus was always on her children; she was first and foremost a dedicated, giving and loving mother.

Beverly’s love for children was a gift that she extended to Evergreen Junior High School where she was a secretary.

Two grandchildren were added to the family, Amanda Diane and Petra Ali Frandsen.

Beverly surrounded them with endless love.

She spent time teaching them the art of making chocolate chip cookies, the importance of eating their fruits and vegetables, how to make a perfect grilled cheese sandwich - although no one will be able to replicate her apple pie - but most importantly how to be kind, patient and compassionate.

Her passions in life were babies, nature, and family.

She was a very talented artist, expressing herself through oil painting, constantly evolving interior design, and gardening.

Bev is survived by her husband Jim; a son, Jim Junior with Liz; daughter, Pamela with Barry; and granddaughters, Amanda and Petra.

At Beverly’s request there will be a private family memorial.

Any memorials in the name of Beverly Stickney may be made to Children’s Village in Coeur d’Alene and Hospice of North Idaho, or an agency of your choice.

Beverly will be missed.
