Medical Lake house fire under investigation

Major crimes detectives from the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the scene of an overnight house fire in the area of Brooks and Martin in Medical Lake. The fire, which was reported shortly after 2 a.m. today, is suspicious, said Sheriff’s Office spokesman Deputy Craig Chamberlin. The detectives are being assisted by an arson investigator from the Spokane Valley Fire Department, Chamberlin said. He declined to specify why major crimes detectives were involved in an arson investigation. “It is a possibility there was criminal activity associated with the arson,” he said. Chamberlin said he expects to release more details about the incident on Monday.
