May 16, 1941
Garry Dennis Helton, 71, a resident of Elk, WA, passed away suddenly on Monday, September 3, 2012. Garry was born and raised at Blackstar, Kentucky, the son of Onzel and Helen Helton. He joined the Air Force in 1960 and served his country for 26 years. In 1986, after his retirement from the military, he and Carolyn moved to Elk, WA. Garry loved music, and played drums and guitar in country western bands. He had fun playing slot machines at the casinos, and was a complete softie when it came to animals, especially cats. Strays had a way of finding our house and were always welcomed by him. Garry is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carolyn, four daughters, Linda (Jeff) Vonberg of Floral City, FL; Cristine (Perry) Simmons of Vernon, FL; Marci (Tim) Johnson of Southport, FL; and Amy (Andy) Fullington of Whiteman AFB, MO. He had seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at 11:00 a.m., with interment at Washington State Veteran’s Cemetery at 2:15 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Poor Clare Monastery, 4419 N.
