Beloved husband, father, and friend to many…
Linwood W. Morse passed away September 5, 2012 with family by his side.

He was born in Spokane, WA on January 6, 1932, son of Dorothy Stanaway, and Samuel Wilt.

Soon after, Dorothy married Edgar Morse, who adopted Lin and his brothers and raised them as his own.

Lin had four brothers and one sister.

From an early age, it was evident Lin was a smart, dedicated, hard working young man.

As a teen, he had numerous newspaper routes, pumped gas, and installed mini blinds.

In May, 1950, Lin graduated from Gonzaga High School, enlisted in the United States Naval Reserve, and worked at the Spokesman-Review in their Circulation department.

It was there that he met his long time friend Bob Adolfson.

Bob was dating Rae who had a sister named Marilyn.

Lin fell in love with Marilyn and the four of them became partners for life.

Lin married Marilyn J. DuSault on March 11, 1953 and quickly started a family, having three boys and two girls.

For fun, Lin became involved in auto racing with his brother Jack and later raced foreign stocks.

Racing was a hobby that bonded his family and made for numerous fond memories.

He liked to buy used Mercedes Benz 280SL Coupes, and restore them to new.

Lin was a City Circulator, a District Manager, and a Regional Manager, and served the local newspaper for 37 years.

At retirement, he was their Circulation Promotion Coordinator.

He worked as a Para Transit Van Driver for eight years.

Lin spent 34 years serving in the U.S.

Naval Reserve, and was part of Air Station Squadron VA-0689 at Whidbey Island, WA.

For 27 years, he was a flight crew engineer for various transport aircraft squadrons, and logged over 3200 hours.

Lin retired from the Navy with the rank “E-8 Chief Aviation Machinist’s Mate” flying in A-6 Fighter Aircraft.

His military career was a big part of his life, as was his devotion to his Catholic faith.

Lin was a spiritual man, kind, and generous.

He taught his children the value of learning and loving God, as well as the merits of hard work, organization, and dedication.

Lin and Marilyn loved to travel, spending time in Hawaii and the Caribbean.

They would frequent NASCAR and Indy Car racing events.

Lin loved FOOD - gourmet food.

Marilyn was a fabulous cook and he enjoyed anything she would prepare.

He loved spending weekends on the Pend Oreille River and Lake Roosevelt.

He became a huge fan of Gonzaga University basketball, and attended numerous games.

He cherished his alma mater Gonzaga Prep, and stayed in touch with many of his classmates for decades.

His dream was to take each of his children and their spouses to Hawaii, and he did.

Lin is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marilyn Morse, his son Mark Morse, his brothers Jack Morse and Dave Morse; and granddaughter Kazbria Morse.

He is survived by his loving children Bill (Karen) Morse, Dave (Lourie) Morse, Diane (John) Aukofer, Sue (Alan) Lesher; daughter-in-law Kristi Morse, brothers Bill Morse, Kelly Morse, and sister Kathy Noble; six grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, September 15, 2012 at 1pm at Assumption Parish, 3624 W. Indian Trail Road, Spokane, with private family interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
